Apologies if I am misunderstood. My comment was not toward you. Also, it seems that I didn't consider "man crush" the same way you do. To me, it is not a sexual or morally derogatory term. Older terminology "they think he hung the moon" "they think he can do no wrong". I'll try to use better word choices and ask that you try not to be so touchy. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I have a "crappy attitude". Lighten up Francis.

Why are you stuck on saying people are stuck? Americans have choices. Unfortunately, the upper income ones think everyone can use the choices that are best for them. Likewise, city dwellers think everyone needs mass transit but don't realize that it is unrealistic in the majority of this country communities. As such, upper income 2500 sq foot home owners think that the EV is perfect. For them? Maybe so but, for the majority of the world it is an conversation piece more than a practicality.

In My Opinion... Musk has changed everything. Even if Tesla fails the other manufacturers are committed to building fully electric cars.
One way or the other we're about to find out how good electric cars really are.

To be completly honest I'd like one for daily duties but the price down here is high end Mercedes money & there's no way I could justify that.

I was at a private country club last night. Model S's lined up for valet 20 deep. Looked like a Tesla dealer lot. Hmmmmm, smart, wealthy people seem to be drinking the Musk koolaid.

If you want an electric car and your housing arrangement doesn't allow for it, you are stuck with having to use a car you don't want.

They can see the writing on the wall. In Delhi you can only drive your dino powered car every other day because the air pollution is so thick. Cities need electric vehicles bad. It would be fantastic to have electric delivery trucks and garbage trucks.

Take your "man crush" comments to PARF. Your insults and crappy attitude have no place in an adult conversation.
insults and crappy attitude you claim...

Or is "stuck taking the bus" meant as a compliment?

Seriously, glass houses there Patrick.

So many false arguments.

because the air pollution is so thick - modern cars are ridiculously clean. Give everyone in Delhi a $140k Tesla and they will build more power generation plants to charge those E-cars, which will belch out even more air pollution. But at least it will be more expensive pollution. And think of the heavy metal tailings to pollute the land, rivers...

IOW, While electrics -can- help vehicle efficiencies, it is not a singular solution. It's not a panacea.

That's a ridiculous assertion. Delhi's pollution is hardly the reason to buy a Tesla- or any electric car. Half of India's air pollution is derived from coal fueled power plants that make what a Tesla runs on.

I said it's one of the reasons manufacturers are developing electric cars.

Jeff, Shaun,

IMHO, when the waste is on the "other" side, it does not have the same impact as when the waste is on "our" side. For me, it is the damn disappointment in people I trusted to do what is right. Yeah call me naive, but it is something that I cannot defend and so choose not to engage in defending. Ya can't rationalize failure, so that IMHO explains our silence. (It doesn't mean we condone it and are much more aware of it).

Or, they just want bragging rights at the socialite parties. There's a fellow here in town that says he pays way too much at the collector car auctions just so he can brag about how much he spent and what new and unusual car he bought. Its a hip and trendy status symbol.
