Dremel 8220
Anyone have one and use it a lot? My older corded Dremel finally broke after years of hard use. How does the cordless version stack up to corded during heavy use?

Buy a spare battery. The Lithium ion ones are pretty kick ass. That may be the model I use at the office, will check.

You have a shop, for heavy use this is what you need, uses the same parts as your Dremel is faster and more power. I have been using ONE for years and it gets a workout. You can spend more but like I say, mine is five years old, I think I have gotten my money out of it.

Mine is model 8000, formerly the top of the line. 10.8 volt. Dremel has very good customer support. If it dies on you, send it back and they will rebuild it for reasonable price, if they can't rebuild it, they sell you another one at cost.

Thanks beygon, that looks like a great tool and I have a lot of Astro pneumatics, so far been indestructible with heavy use. I'll order one now.
Thom, yeah but I have RapidAir running all over the floor with 10 drops, so I'm good. Will take my Dremel apart and see if I can fix it.

IMO, don't bother with Dremel. I've gone through several dozen in the last 19 years.

Excellent idea, far superior eye protection
I had a few old, fairly high end cordless Dremels that crapped out. Sent them to Racine, they call tell me and say they don't have parts for them, because they are like 40 years old. They let me have the equivalent tool for cost. $50 for what was $120 at the time. If it is one of the pricier ones, might be worth sending it in.

I own current models of both corded and cordless Dremels. I never use the cordless one.
