Another great indie place is in Beaufort SC. Its just down the road from Charleston about an hour. Its called Bob Woodman Tires. He does a lot a race related things since his main focus was race tires. I get all my work done there for my 89 930. Very easy to work with, in fact I am moving to Kalifornia later this month and i just found out my right front strut was bad. They had a few parts in stock for another car (Bilstein RSR with raised spindles) and they let me take them since I am leaving. Great customer service. The mechanic working on my car is coming in after hours all weekend to get my car done since they are doing race support this weekend in Savannah. The other mech they have was at Porsche doing an apprenticeship in the 70's so they know their aircooled cars!
I agree with everyone else here, the low country is food heaven! The steak place downtown is called Grill 225, very nice place. In fact several magazines called in top 10 in the country. I've been in Beaufort since 2009 and I am sad to leave this place. Let me know if you want any more information. James

I've been in Mount Pleasant since 2000. Lived in Dunes West for 15 years and now live in Rivertowne. Lost of good restaurants, shopping and site seeing in downtown Charleston. I did all my own work on my 930, but did have Gordon at Autometrics do a few things I couldn't do. TIMC has a friend that works on Porsche's only I think. Contact him.
I'm not a restaurant fan but I really like the steak filet at Red Drum in MTP. Also, there's an Italian restaurant in MTP called Cuoco Pazzo that I like. |

There are several better roads than the Tail. From Johnson City in the North down to Cherokee in the South and all around Sylva you'll find miles and miles of fun to explore.
