Styling is all objective but IMHO I don't find the new mustang any more beautiful or true to the history than the other retro muscle cars currently being presented.

If I were shopping Mustang/Camero I would opt for the 300HP V6. But then again all a matter of taste, I'm sure many here lust after the 800HP tire destroyers that are now available.

2018 Mustang GT? 460 horsepower. IRS. New 10 speed auto that yields a 12.1 1/4 mile ET while giving a lap time around VIR of 2:08. Youtube videos of both. Timing slip shown on the 1/4 mile. Both box stock cars running showroom rubber. On the options list, there are 2 levels of track pack suspensions offered. Both have big Brembo brakes. Level 2 is essentially 350GT suspension without the aero. Not all that long ago, those were supercar times. The '08-09 Bullitt "special edition" offered goodies beyond the stripping of emblems and dark green paint over the GT of the same years. Better suspension, lower ratio rear end, more horsepower, variable tune allowing it to have more power on premium while able to burn regular, better seating, and more. I would expect an '18 version to be similar...not up to 350GT but closer to it than a standard GT. But will Ford build it? That's still being debated on Mustang boards. Speaking of which...yes, there are threads on Porsches on the Mustang boards, with none of the animosity seen here on this off topic Porsche board. So, you don't like me. Mustangs, or pool? Hey, nobody's forcing you to read or comment. But go ahead if you wish. I find it amusing. (edit) I could be mistaken, but I believe the Mustang V-6 is gone for 2018. Ecoboost 4 banger for a bit over 300 horsepower. Like all turbos, great MPG numbers as long as you stay off the boost. But what's the fun in staying off the boost? Personally, I prefer normally aspirated to boosted engines, but that's just me.

No animosity toward you or mustangs but this is a car BBS populated by car folks and any post about any car will draw a certain amount of praise and/or criticism. I have no doubt if I posted about the new top of the line Camaro I would get some positive and some negative comments. For instance I am very interested in what the 300HP turbo 4 banger is like in a new mustang (putting on flame suit).

$80K???? Who told you that? Base price of even the 350GT is under $60K...with many dealers no longer asking a "price adjustment" to sell them.
will $60 K buy a new Boxster? https://shop.ford.com/build/mustang/?searchid=362944731||&s_kwcid=AL!2519!105!34041236721!s!303672462666&ef_id=WiwN9gAAAHbpcULE:20171209192303:s#/select/Config%5B%7CFord%7CMustang%7C2018%7C1%7C1.%7C900A. P8J.....COU.SLB.~YZKAA.SHB.LESS.%5D

I find it amazing, what engineers are managing to pull-off, in this ever constrictive CAFE standards world of autos. Quote:

Oh, and it's funny that the howling, about this board being a Porsche forum, never comes up on any of the many Tesla treads.

Snowflake - you're using it wrong.
Snowflake refers to those who need a safe space from certain others and ideas. You know, like needing a safe space from anything Ford.

No, I'm using it correctly. You need a safe space from anyone pointing out your fellow trolls doing what trolls do best...trolling. OK, snowflake?

I'm kinda sad the new Miata went with the catfish look too... but it doesn't make over 300 HP so it is not a real car anyway.

Must they make them look so angry?
Maybe angry equates to purposeful these days but I think it’s a reflection of the times we live in...

I'm curious to see it. I personally love the Highland green. I think a bullit with the track 2 suspension and no spoilers or wings would be a great sleeper.
Personally, I'm amazed at what Ford is doing with the Mustang. I posted on another thread that I recently purchased a new GT350....That car is an absolute hoot to drive. Everything about the experience of DRIVING it is great. The car is absolutely confidence inspiring going thru curves and the crackles and burbling on overrun has the best sound of any car I've ever driven. when you drive that car you can tell it's special. Actually I take that back. When you drive it the way it's supposed to be driven, you can tell it's special. All that being said, there are things I don't care for. I hate the big hard plastic console. It looks and feels cheap. The 18 Mustang has corrected it a little by covering it in leather/Vinyl. I'm seriously thinking of doing the same. Overall fit and finish on mine is OK, but I've seen others that needed work. Finally. Im a little confused. last I checked this is the off topic section. OFF TOPIC. A lot of dickish responses on this thread. If you were in a room where people were talking and you had no interest in the conversation taking place, I doubt you would stop and talk a bunch of mess. No, you'd keep moving. So keep effing moving if you don't have anything to add. It was not only the content of information and discussion of this forum that made it a good place to come, but the content of the people as well. Lately I question the latter..... I know, I know, maybe I should go to the Mustang forum with Paul.......

A funny Mustang story that doesn’t involve random crashing...
A certain Porsche dealership lost their Premier status when they had a used 2015 Mustang sitting in their new car showroom and some bigwig from corporate happened to be in town. Some sort of Shelby limited edition model. Took a year to get that Premier status back. This message will self-destruct before midnight....

There seems to be lots of loud Mustangs on Adelaide's roads right now.
![]() What's with that? Can you order a loud exhaust from the factory?
