We summer in Port Angeles WA area. Grew up raking crab, digging clams and shucking oysters.

Great things to learn as a young man. Fishing, handling a boat and shucking fresh oysters!

Turns out I’m not that slow! My new oyster knife is blistering fast. It’s a New Haven style knife. Thinner tip, and it’s curved a tiny bit. I don’t have to push that hard to insert just past the hinge.

First time buying from Bodega Oyster Company. Closer to home. Same price as my favorite. Tomalas Bay Oyster Co. I went to the hog island place once. The condition of the outhouses turned me off forever.

I thought the Hog Island in Napa was better but in the Tomalas Bay area we liked this place.
I think out there Hog Island wanted you to shuck your own, I'm not qualified.

The Marshall store! I love that place. Expensive. I think a dozen bbq oysters was $40. Good tho.

The post that answered mine where I talked about Rehobeth Delaware reminded me of some of the famous people who had summer homes there. Of course the DuPont family had a huge one, President Ike had a more modest one and even Dick Clark had one. Some times we would part just down the street from his place and walk by. If he was sitting on the porch we'd waive and he'd say "come on over" as he was always interested what people thought about American Bandstand! Sometime some of the teens would also be there but most we considered A-Holes since they acted really special but Dick was nice.

Most of the oysters I've had are from Apalachicola in Florida. I found a little seafood shack there and asked how much the oysters were. They sold me a half bushel for $19 and brought out a bag the size of a pillow case.

I have a couple of boston style dexter russel knives. The one with the original tip is good for teaching people how to shuck (not sharp enough to cut skin when you stab yourself) and the other has a sharpened point that makes it much easier to pierce the oyster hinge.

All I can say about oysters is that there is a outside oyster stand in Blaine, WA right in the middle of main street, small town can't miss it. Without a doubt and I have eaten my share of oysters in this world, this guy is bar non the best grilled oysters you will even put in your mouth.
