New Grandchild
Ira B Hynes was born on 1/12 to my son and his wife, both stationed at Ft. Hood. They named him after Ira Hayes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ira_Hayes, turns out they were both born on January 12.
She's an RN and he's an Infantry Officer with the 3rd Cavalry. Unfortunately he deploys to Iraq in a few months and also has to leave for the NTC in a few weeks so his time with this little guy will be somewhat limited until early next year. We leave Thursday for Texas to visit. His Mom was there for the birth and kept me updated including a call from the delivery room. Tis good to have a good relationship with your ex, especially for these kinds of events! ![]()

The 'Ballad of Ira Hayes" has been sung by many, and referenced by John Prine in one of my favorite songs.
Just fantastic they are honoring him. What a great journey they are both on. If you are not has proud as two proud things you aren't well!

Congrats!
I'm about to complete my first year as a grandpa come Feb. I thought it was protocol to site all the vital statistics when announcing a grand kid ie height/weight etc.

Thanks. I can't wait to meet him. I know he was 7lb and 14oz. My son was over 10lbs when he was born. All went well. She was a week overdue. I've had the pleasure of being a grandpa to my wife's now 8 year old grandaughter for over 3 years and we see her all of the time. Them being in the Army and right now half a country away is hard but we'll visit as often as we can!
