Flying pig?
Okay, this is may be a bit off topic, but I'm struggling to find this answer searching.
What is it with Porsches (911's?) and the “flying pig” or “Porker” nicknames. Are these related? Is it really as simple as a reference to the pink pig 917 and that British people pronounce “Porker” and “Porsche” the same? Is there more to it? I feel like there just has to be more history there. |

I've never heard a reference to a flying pig except for the one 917.
Other than maybe someone occasionally calling one of the more modern heavy cars a porker or pig, maybe.

Checking out Onassis's website, that 356 does look a lot like a pig—is it just the resemblance that gained the nickname? Did folks call Porsches “Pigs”*before the 917?
