I'd think the danger is in:
1). someone leaning forward on the tips of their feet, 2). that device twists sideways and slips out of lock, they fall and break something, 3). meanwhile it gouges an arc in the paint of the B-pillar. Maybe you could make the hook length fatter and shorter, or much longer, the foot pad wider, and a large rubberized pad to sit against the door jam? There doesn't seem to be an easy way of an arm locking it to the jam or making foldable/storeable. |
good to know, perhaps include that in the documentation, i'm sure many others will worry about that in the context of that product.

They have some of the facts in their FAQs on the Kickstarter-page.

I'm surprised nobody has started 3d printing these yet. Polycarbonate would easily hold the weight.

Has he given thought to quantity sales or distributorships? I'd be very interested in discussing the possibilities. I'll PM my contact info.

Update to this amazing story.
The product is now being licensed and sold by Right Line Gear; Moki Door Step| Vehicle Step Up| Car Step Up Tune into Shark Tank January 6. I have zero knowledge of the outcome, but exciting nonetheless! Shark Tank is like Fight Club :--) |

Nice product. I drive a PU and washing the top is difficult. Now I'm going out to the garage and welding up a pair. :D
PS, I also have one of those steps that hang on a tire. But it's the top of the cab that is left hard to reach. |
Clever and practical.
I love to see young people take a chance, get off the sidelines, and startup something. A 'tip of the hat' to them and a proud papa ! I hope they make enough money to fund more adventures for them... |

Also if you read the comments section people are concerned about where their items are — no deliveries for a couple months and no response. That's of today. It could change tomorrow. |
Have to say, this is good. Can't wait to see what Vipergrün Jr. comes up with next.

Just caught the Shark Tank episode!
So someone has become a multi-millionaire! |

The big guy I saw on Shark Tank was this little guy? Where have the years gone?

Wow Ryan, where did you dig up that picture? Must be from a Big Bear run. Way cool! Hope you are doing well. Would love to get back to WSIR with the old gang sometime...I do need a car, though :--)
Been offline for a while and was able to spend some time this past weekend in CT with the my son and his family, especially the new grandson, who was referenced on the show. It's been quite the whirlwind for them, interviews, shows, radio stations, newspapers, etc. Keep in mind, though, that Shark Tank is reality TV and was interesting to hear the details. A dump truck did not show up at their house with a pile-o-cash. They have concerns about whack jobs thinking they must have a safe full of cash in the house. Not the case. Cannot say much more, but the licensing deal is full speed ahead and taking orders for the product. I am proud beyond words. Sure, this whole thing has been an amazing experience, but I am proud because my son has incredible interaction with his kids, takes care of and protects his family, and he and his wife are a great team. The money could make life easier, but it will not change them. Their careers are centered around helping other people, and they will continue to do that. Appreciate all the kind words and support! |
What a fantastic tale...epic outcome! You should be proud...kudos and best to all!

was just searching around banggood for some electronics bits and I am sorry to say they seem to be selling a knock off of this. I am guessing this is not licensed right?
Bangood is known in the RC world to sell "replica" electronics and kits that are nearly identical to the legitimate counterparts. https://www.banggood.com/Multifunctional-Car-Door-Pedal-Foldable-Truck-Doorstep-Safety-Hammer-Roof-Rack-Assistance-Universal-p-1362612.html?rmmds=category&cur_warehouse=CN |
Wow, the bang good is a replica but I guess to circumvent the copyrights (if there is any, I don't know) the added more stuff, which is not bad, actually...
Sorry for your kid that someone else stole his idea.. |
I think since Daymond bought the "company" for $3M, it's his problem now.
|
There are patent troll companies who claim a large ambiguous swath..wait for others to sell it..and then attempt to collect after the fact.
