For those interested here is an interesting use of the Gardasil vaccine treating HPV-driven multifocal squamous cell cancer of skin in non-operable 97 year old clearing all tumors.

Forgot to update this. Went to the surgeon and he removed my nail. Froze the finger with two shots into my hand on either side of the finger and used a little flat tool to slide under the nail and remove it completely. He looked at the bed and said he could see no abnormality except the nail was loose on one side. He then took swabs and used a little round punch to drill a hole in my nail bed. The swabs were sent out for cultures and the nail bed piece was sent out for testing. Both came back negative. I asked him why then did his happen and he said sometimes the body does weird things. No reason why but I have a follow-up appointments with the dermatologist and the surgeon end of October.

Keep checking yourselves for strange lumps and bumps.

That's great news.

And any females you may know, offer to check them for lumps too.

Melanoma is always bad. SCC is only bad if it gets advanced enough to spread, which it does really slowly.

I had a chunk 3/4" wide and and 1/4" deep cut out of my shoulder nearly 5 years ago, no problems since 'cause they caught it early.

It was funny but after the freezing wore off I didn't feel much pain. Except when I bumped it into things which as we all know goes up exponentially when you have hurt a body part.

Dude. I can sew better than that, did they do that to maintain flexibility at the joint or something?

I didn't do anything, the doctor took a LARGE section of skin out and that's the best they could unless they were going to graft something. I was ok with this, finger pecking typing for awhile. It has a splint and large bandage to keep me from moving it till they take the stitches out

If it starts throbbing, soak it in cider.

Yep, stuff that killed us just a generation ago is something we can control now.

It all worked out, they took so much out it wouldn't stretch back together, when they took the stitches out it kind of separated but it has all grown back. It's been about seven weeks. Here it is a day or so after they took the stitches out and then, TODAY. I still can't bend it all the way, the skin is too tight but it's getting better.

Had my follow up visit with the dermatologist Tuesday. She looked me over again and nothing new was found. Back to see her in 8 months and if nothing new is found I'm back in my GP's hands. Life is good.

For you fair skinned types over 50 who have had a lot of sun exposure or some bad sun burns, you should think about seeing a dermatologist annually so you don’t end up with holes in your anatomy other than the ones supposed to be there.
