Don’t mind the obviously drunk Khal who’d likely piss on his own mother for ten cents....

My favorite was when he met Steve McQueen and Steve admitted to forgetting having brought his Bible to the meeting. Billy gladly gave him his own. Not some give-away Bible that he kept just in case someone needed one but his own dog eared and marked up one. It was reportedly with Steve when he died...

The haters will say that the Bible Billy gave away was stolen from a gullible follower...

Back in my college days, I personally witnessed the transformation of a friend from a directionless partier to a thoughtful, caring and helpful young man.

He attributed his evolution to Billy Graham. I happened to be with him when he first saw Billy Graham on TV. What was interesting was how my friend transformed himself but never became fanatical about it. It seemed genuine to me.

We saw him at an event in Charlotte at the stadium around 98-99.

He was inspiring.

The local news has been nonstop...he did a tent crusade here in '51....where the coliseum now stands. Drew over 400k over several weeks....he predated all the media....but then used it like no other...for good...a simply amazing man.

Just read that article. It's awful dusty in my office today. Seems to be playing havoc with my eyes. Roy's encounter with Dr. Graham reminds me of the story someone posted here some time ago about someone who ran into the real life Mr. Rogers when he was feeling very low and Mr. Rogers dropped what he was doing to spend time with him and talk him through his problems. Good and faithful servants know how to do that sort of thing.

Quote from an associate posted to FB:

"In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

This is the difference between Billy Graham, and the televangelists on TBN. Today in his passing, just like in his life, even those who adamantly disagreed with him, can only say good things about him, because of how he exemplified the humility, love, and heart of our Lord. What Graham did, he did for God, not for power, money, or to manipulate. He displays the character that a public Christian should, and it is right for the church to take time to grieve his passing.

I agree. Evangelism isn't my thing, but I think Doctor Graham was an honest preacher. He did good for a lot of people.

If anyone wants a prime example of un-true crap you read on the internet, we can use Ayles' link above as "Exhibit A".

Fake news, this old chunk of coal says. However, the man was responsible for keeping his ministry alive. No way he was squeaky clean (Edit: per a purist).

The Red scare at home, unabashed moves toward empire abroad, the phrase ‘under God’ inserted into the Pledge of Allegiance, the scapegoating of homosexuals as ‘security risks,’ an insane accumulation of nuclear weapons, suicidal wars against postcolonial insurgencies in Asia—a set of desperate choices indeed. Through it all, Billy Graham was the high priest of the American crusade, which is why U.S. presidents uniformly sought his blessing.”

Fear? Jim Bakker sells dried food from his ministries for the EMP bomb that will certainly starve millions.

Don't expect God haters and luke warm Christians to have good things to say about a man who didn't mince words about condemning sin and saying there is a Heaven to gain and a Hell to shun. Consider the source.
