After a little cropping, the file sizes of a few photos allow them to be posted.

great engines. I had over 200k on mine and would hit the rev limiter daily.
Agreed, and will be on the list

The EFI on the 280Z is great too, the car could benefit from an extra 100hp as the chassis is so capable.

Hope it works out and you get it.

The original owner teared up as I took one last photo .... Her last name is O'Neil she is 71 years old and everything important in her life happened while she owned this car.

So in memory of the PO my Datsuns
plates will read ONeil78!

Great story, and glad you got the car. Should be a lot of fun!

Those sixes really respond to a little positive intake manifold pressure.

Just sayin.

I've toyed around with getting another Z many times over the last several years. I have owned 2 - 240s, 2- 260s and 3- 280s.. Loved them all! I like the look of the the early cars better, but the newer ones had vast improvements..
Enjoy!

My 77 was the same color as the OP and I had the same wheels as
Norm here. You don’t see those wheels very often. The FI gave me fits when I was stationed in Denver but it loved sea level after I got my orders to the Big E. Sold it when I started having babies. Though I love the throttle response of the 71s, the thought of another 77 with a 240 backdate makes me get all itchy.

The wheels, a factory/dealer option are indeed pretty uncommon these days, and the ones on my car have kind of cool story: the PO had always liked this style but could find pretty much only trashed ones (almost always without center caps) so he began a nationwide search of now-Nissan dealerships in a quest for an NOS set. As I recall, he found two on a dusty backroom shelf at one dealership and one each at three other stores. The set on my car is essentially new, having, I believe, less than a thousand miles on them. Plus, I have a fifth one that's never been mounted. Center caps are apparently the proverbial hen's teeth, too. Frankly, they're not my favorite so I'm holding out for someone doing a concours (or somewhere close) restoration that wants a set of five.

Back in the day my oldest brother took part of his baseball signing bonus and bought a 260z that looked allot like this one, but it had wire wheels hubcaps.
i never got a chance to drive it because he would have killed me if i got within 20 feet of it but that was the coolest car ever.

Another vote for the clean JDM look. Won’t devalue it because it’s period. Keep it mostly original!
