Hey Paul, looks like 1984 or 1985. How many miles and what kind of work needs to be done?

Baz 03-11-2018 05:49 PM

My first Porsche was an SC - they are like the flagship of the 911's!

Congrats, Paul......please keep us posted on your adventures with her! :)

Nice! Here's a link you might find useful for searching (I've used it a lot for rebuilding my silver Targa...):

79-83? Looking forward to hearing about your progress. I still miss my 79 sc targa.

Good to see a Pelican actually buying a Porsche. Congrats and enjoy!

1982 SC. 168k. Engine redone about 10k ago.

It has been sitting for almost two years so all fluids, etc, will be changed.

Needs new brake lines and pads. The fuel line will be replaced, etc.

Short term is to get it road worthy and put some miles on it.

Long term I really don't know. I was planning on keeping the 560 until this car found me.

In my old barn:

Thank you!

It looks like hood shocks are on the to do list! :D

Cool car Paul. It will be really cool once you upgrade the AC and get it fixed up to what you want. Maybe some composite AC vents and body pieces. ;)

Honestly Glen, seeing your car a year or so ago got me thinking about getting another Targa, especially with your success with the a/c upgrade!

Best.

oh boy!! i love it.

any motor shots? doesnt sound like it will be so much trouble to get running and on the road.

vash 03-12-2018 08:29 AM

dont forget that 82 car has that extra wiring harness that attaches to the back firewall..just in case you drop the motor. that thing cracks with the smallest forces.

I guess the hip works well enough to work 3 pedals, excellent.

I frankly don't know why I decided to do this again: Targa was the first reason, the connection here with a really fine man the second, then the fact that my parent were cousins the third.

I'll break even on the 560.

That is all.

daepp 03-12-2018 07:21 PM

Very nice looking Targa - congratulations. I hope you have miles of smiles!

Superman 03-12-2018 08:31 PM

Very nice color. If the rebuild retained the old pistons, I believe they are 9.3:1. Also....narrower intake runners. more intake air velocity. Makes a difference. 964+ (20/21) cams work nice in that motor. Welcome back Dude (though you were not actually gone). I'm finally feeling the juices flowing. I'm in the process of installing a new headliner, raised spindles and custom valved shocks, etc. These are the absolute funnest cars to drive.
