Mark, do you mind me asking,as i left NZ about 13 years ago.
What is your VW worth now in NZ, if you sold it, i have
lost in prices now being away for so long.
And your car is wonderful, and i understand if you dont want to answer
regards.

Yep, right up my alley!

EDIT: the first car posted, that is...not that front engined abomination. Also like the other early cars, posted. Had lots of '50s and '60s Beetles. All modified. Loved them. Would love to have another Oval window.

Love them all, I had a 1976 Super Beetle in orange, no heat to speak of. It got the death rattle after less than a year of ownership and no shop I took it to knew what to do with it, so I sold it for cheap.

Bought it from a guy named Billy Joel, not the piano man though, just a guy in Michigan.

Family had a '70 or '71 white convertible with a black top that I drove occasionally while in high school. It was so underpowered, but fun to drive nonetheless. I wish we still had it too.

Looks like a fun car but will never be valued as a collector.
Some mods can be really good like 12V. The problem with modded cars (especially low price/value ones) is you don't know if the mods were hack jobs or done right. Fresh paint may be hiding a poor prep job that will flake and fade in 6 mos. Re-wired electrics are great unless you have a rats nest of stuff that never make sense and ghost voltage drains. Likewise with the motor although rebuilding a v-dub is cheap and easy. Look at the seller as much as the car to decide if you are walking into a money pit.

At one time, early 70's we owned 3 Beetles and a Bus, the fountainhead of all cars German for me.

Our family car at the time was a 3.8 Series II Jag. I spent as much time under that car as riding it it...the only British vehicle I have ever owned was a 1994 Defender 90, Buick engine.

With all the huge pickups and SUVs in the US, a Beetle is just a rolling coffin

Beetles are rolling coffins surrounded by giant pickup trucks and absurdly large SUVs

Probably just a show car. Most likely only needs to drive from the trailer to the show field.

People have done the most horrible things to VWs over the years...

And some of the wildest...

And some pretty cool things too...

Jeez...what a killjoy. Hardly anyone uses a vintage VW as a daily driver these days. Most are now 'hobby' cars that are driven very infrequently.

I know the guy who built this one, not sure if he still owns it but he drove it all over the place with no problems. 455 olds.

Beautiful car. THAT’s one I’d want to buy. Terrible that it was stolen.
