Grab yer liver and hang on....just explore the FQ for two days....there is SO much more outside those few blocks though....

A FEW hurricanes sitting on the patio at Pat O'Brians is the best way to start your day.....before you begin the day...

Got dragged on a walking cemetary tour once with a California hottie ....great history of city...

Be SAFE! Been there many times....have fun!

I only like the FQ for first timers.....with more than two days...there is a lot to do....wrong time of year though...hot and humid :)

One of my favorite parts of visiting New Orleans was wandering Bourbon St at 8am on a Sunday morning. It's an interesting combination of people cleaning barf off of the sidewalks and people still barfing on sidewalks. Plus, the architecture is interesting.

Before I went, everyone said go have a Hurricane at Pat O's, which I did, and thought it was kinda gross but YMMV. I don't recall much else about the weekend, lol. We did eat at Commander's Palace in the garden district. Probably not high on the list for a bunch of 20-somethings but worth it, I think.

If I were to go back, I would definitely eat some oysters and find a jazz club to visit.

Hurricanes, particularly for a bachelor party, should be the first stop. After that point I have a feeling that things will work themselves out.;)

Some good suggestions on this thread and I’ve done more than a few. Oysters on the half shell are probably my favorite part of Nola, and you don’t have to visit one of the fancy places to get damn good oysters.

DBA on Frenchman street. Maple Leaf uptown, both killer music bars. Art galleries on Royal.

Oh, I don't know. On the one hand, you can stand in line for an hour with hundreds of other people waiting for a cup of café au lait and what is essentially a state fair funnel cake.

On the other hand, you can perhaps get a little dressed up and get seated immediately in a nice hotel dining room, drink some champagne and fresh squeezed orange juice and maybe have a crab omelette.

Or, I suppose there is a third option. Some people may think that drinking hurricanes is where it's at and wake up, covered in vomit, in some street gutter when someone hoses them off.

Go drink and listen to some live jazz. It's not that hard.

I grew up/lived there for 30+ years and I'll still take cafe du monde over any nice restaurant every time I go home to visit.

I lived there for a while as a kid and still have nightmares about getting grits for lunch in school.

Lots of good food down there, one of the better cities for food in the US.

I've done the Cafe thing once....during JF many years ago with my girl....worst freakin' coffee yer ever gonna have....chickory...bleh! Not my thing either....

Been to visit mebbe a dozen times....Mardi Gras a handful of times in my young daze, and many memorable Jazz Fests (before it got too corporate)....never EVER had a bad meal there either...but I don't do the joints you do either....it's always been about music when I visit...and jazz is a very minor part...

.....not much of what I dig happens in the Qtr...but for 20 somethings on a 2 day bachelor party....I just say wing it and enjoy the French Qtr in all of it's touristy raunch :)

2 days with a bunch of youngsters, I'm not sure how much time you'll have to do anything.

I would hit Cafe du Monde for a Beignet. If you don't like it, great, but then at least you know. It is something that NOLA is known for.

I haven't done Emerils. If I ever go back, I will after the responses here.

I went once many years ago with a platonic college friend. We followed our noses for food and our ears for music. We mostly stuck to blues. If I went back today, I'd check out some jazz too.

I have been a few times with the missus. I think one place that I have been every time that I've been there was the Court of Two Sisters restaurant. It's down an alley, and a nice place although I'm not sure that it's the kind of place to go with a bachelor's party.

I love the food, so I always try to go someplace different for breakfast, lunch and dinner if we do all 3.

I've been to Marie Laveau's Voodoo shop a couple of times.

Café Du Monde: take my share too! It was a total tourist novelty. Long wait for an underwhelming product. I hardly call a place that serves coffee, water, and beignets a "restaurant", but okay...go to say you went. I'd rather have a fresh Krispy Kreme doughnut. I blame the travel shows for over-hyping it.

I damn sure wouldn't wait....years ago it was a non-full patio for a crappy cup of joe and KK kicks them fancy named donuts to the curb....we people watched and enjoyed it....not memorable. I'm not a mixed drink person either, but I do imbibe a few Pat O's hurricanes every visit...another tourist novelty but I digress...I am one ;)

Jambalaya and roast beef debris sandwich from Mother's restaurant live up to the hype for me. I am get hot and bothered thinking about having a 3 way with them now.
