that's a much nicer car than anything I will ever drive, let alone own.
But if they're going to make an icon of a car that is exponentially cubic dollars, I'm going to go ahead and pick it apart.

I honestly don't understand Singer's obsession with fat Carrera flares. They just look wrong at every angle. These at least have the wheels tucked inside vs. the regular Singer where the tire is outboard of the flare.

I think I already told the story here but I sold my briefly owned 964 coupe to Singer last year, (or was it 2016?). They were going to turn it into demo because all of the cars they have there belong to clients and cannot really be driven by prospective buyers.

I was looking forward to going back and driving it after they did their magic on it, which is really more like remanufacturing than anything else. They save very little of the original car, even most of the body becomes CF. Their processes and workmanship are really something, I really wanted to snap some pics but they don’t allow it for some obvious reasons. MMarsh went w me there one of the times, we were both pretty awed by the company and the cars.

Even though I work a stone’s throw from them some of the time, I did not get around to going back until very recently. I drive past almost daily. Rob was in Europe w the Williams guys, (I think), but the rest of them were there and nice as ever. It’s been so long now that w/o my old VIN, they could not tell me which car was my old one. I need to dig that up and go back sometime.

As for the $1.5M, all I can say is that there are a lot of rich guys around these days.

Even components that appear at first to be standard Porsche issue are actually designed and manufactured by Singer...like this headlight and turn signal.

Thanks but don't get me started on Accumoto styling.

Don't get me wrong, execution by Accumoto and Singer is nothing short of stunning, but some of the aesthetics are questionable. Singer shines in interiors for the most part. That they spent a year developing fat Carrera flares that don't even fit over the wheels is as striking as the level of quality that goes into each car. And a fat Carrera flare as a modern 934 bolt-on, as seen on this car in the OP, is just not right.

How long before Singer makes their own carbon monocoque? Must be not far away. Is it just an issue of becoming a manufacturer and stamping their own VIN? How are Singer cars registered now, as the donor 964/993 car?

That's a 964 rear deck with the activated spoiler and I was working on a mini duck tail when I decided to leave Porsche ownership.

RUF has been a manufacturer since the old man built buses in Germany. So they can stamp their VIN on a car. In the US a potential car maker would have to submit to the DOT. I'm not an expert so I can't tell you if there are any exemptions to things like crash testing.

IMHO, Singer is better off making 'modified' cars using the original make and model VIN. A RUF is not a Porsche, it just uses some Porsche parts. So, a RUF is not a 911 in my mind with respect to your question. A Singer still is if only on the tag under the windshield.
