Princeton Merritt Spenses Bridge Tour - June 23

Want to join the Canadians for a great 1 day tour??

This event will be along some great BC roads with beautiful scenery. It will be a long day traveling about 800 kms. The focus of the event is longer distance driving.

Planned meeting place is the Costco parking lot in Abbotsford at 8:00 AM.

Maps will be provided.

Basic plan is to stop at Manning Park for coffee. Lunch is planned for Merritt area - a picnic style lunch. These are always fun. So - bring you favorite sandwich. Coffee break at Lytton and stop in Abbotsford for goodbyes.

How many hours round trip from Abbotsford?

Would anyone consider staying in a hotel either Friday or Saturday night? How about driving up there early Saturday morning, going for the drive, then stay in a fleabag somewhere Saturday night, and driving home on Sunday? Driving to and from Abbotsford on Saturday will be a long day.

When we head to Issaquah in the morning it is about 2 hours and 15 minutes from the border.

Early morning crossings are basically zero line ups. The Costco parking lot is 5 minutes north of the Sumas Crossing - take Highway 9 out of Sedro-Woolley.

I have a family commitment and will not attend the event. Al will be leading the group. He promises to have the starter fixed by then.

So we could leave from Frontier Village on Saturday morning and take Hwy 9 all the way to Sumas. How long will that take - 1.5 hours? Hwy 9 from Arlington to Lake McMurray is fun - I'm not as familiar with the road North of there to Sedro Wooley. I used to ride my bicycle through there, but its been a few years......

Any thoughts?

If we leave Abbotsford at 8:00 AM about what time would we be getting back to Abbotsford?

Google maps says 8 hours. If you add stops on this, you will be getting into 10 to 11 hours. If the group does 10% over the speed limit, take an hour off the time.

After leaving Hope and making it up the long hill, there is an 80 km zone around Sunshine Village.
RCMP camps there, so, watch it.

Police had major radar set up just west of Hope yesterday (close to the weigh scale).
Fortunately, I had caught up to some traffic that was doddling along at 98 km/hr.
