Well Al, it was a pleasure to meet you. Wish we had more time to chat. I've followed your posts for years. Would love to drop by your place and chat Porsche sometime.
All the best.

I might of met you once at a Starbucks in Mt Vernon quite a few years back, when you were involved in a muffler sale with our friend Gunter! Al

Banned but not out, yet..

Great shots all around and all those beautiful cars. Looks like everyone had a fantastic time. If you wanted to make the rest of us envious, it worked. (And 302s are totally cool. Always wanted one.)

hey guys - it's been a while, but i just received a call from jack from morris brothers in utah (formerly wolfsburg motors in seattle) who rebuilt my engine - he took apart the engine and found the problem - what he found is way surprising, as the 356 completed hundreds of miles of the tour with no problems except the ticking sound - it wasn't a rod bearing, it was a . . . (drum roll please!) . . . completely broken crankshaft!!! - the crankshaft was brand new for the 1st build from porsche directly - jack figures that porsche is not using real porsche cranks - so there will be a new SCAT crank installed - BTW, the rest of the engine is perfect, as the full flow oil filter picked up any crap - what a long strange (and expensive) trip it's been!!!
see you guys at the next tour - thanks for your help once again - cheers, brad in seattle

Brad, that's amazing! You have to bring the crank to dinner this month.

Oregon tour with a broken crank, who said Porsches aren't robust? This is unbelievable.

hey guys - the 356 is back together with the light weight scat crank - here are some photos at my 356 mechanic's shop (front oil cooler install too!):
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1608578292748082.1073741832.154413066585951 2&type=3¬if_t=like also, after that extreme drive up to st helens from randle "the friendliest town in WA," I was pleasantly surprised to see that the local PCA PNWR had a tour there this upcoming weekend - i signed up to take my 914-4 - i just received this email from PNWR, in part: "To all participants registerd for the Spirit of St Helens Tour: A pre-run of the Spirit of Mt. St. Helens Tour confirmed great driving roads and outstanding scenery. Unfortunately, there was a significant portion of the tour that had rough, punishing roads that had deteriorated since we last ran this tour several years ago. We found over fifty instances of broken pavement, large bumps and big dips. Almost all of these hazards were unmarked and were sometimes difficult to see due to lighting conditions. This started just before the route turned north to Windy Ridge until almost to Randle. As a result, we have decided to run a different and new tour in its place." pretty accurate description! I guess what gets the local pelicansters goin' is what the PCA can't stand! sorry i missed the spring tour - hope to see all of you guys soon! brad k
