'84 911 Targe

Paint code L662 VX. I believe this is listed as Grey Metallic.
I have many previously repaired (prior owner) paint chips and some new ones I would like to repair. Question: Is this a clear coat or single stage paint? If the latter, I would like to do the new touch ups and then wet sand/compound/polish. Any issues and or tips?
If I have a clear coat (I have read that the early 1980 metallic paints were clear coat) I assume a DIY wet sand is not a good idea.
