Primer for Powder Coating

I have a number of parts to media blast and powder coat and I’m looking for a way to protect the freshly blasted surface until I have enough pieces to take the powder coating shop.

I know many people who use Gibbs on bare metal as it works well for painting, does anyone know if it will also work for powder coating?

I’ve also read that 2 part epoxy can hold up to the heat of the oven, and was wondering if a product like 2K epoxy primer in a can would work?

Thx

You might check first with your powder coating company - most will blast the parts again before powder coating. At least with the one I use - same price if I bring them a part that I have media blasted myself or bring them an untouched piece.

Thanks 73pcar. I’ll see what they recommend.

Parts are blasted, handled with rubber gloves so no oils get on parts, wiped down with denatured alcohol, treated with phosphate then coated.

I have to think no but that is armchair.

What about just putting the parts into a well sealed off garbage bag? There would be some moisture in there but it would be a finite amount. Maybe a fresh desiccant bag?
