Fun Article About Our Man 962’s Shop
I’m pretty sure there’s only one shop in Branford, Conn specializing in Austin Healey Sprites?
This is from the New York Times; I could send a pdf copy if anyone comes up against a firewall. There is (slight) 911 content for the P-car obsessed. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/02/business/american-road-trip-bugeye-sprite.html 962: thanks for all you contribute here. John (also in Conn) |

I know Dave the bugeyeguy very well.
after I closed up the restoration shop in Branford many years ago now just started doing some work out of our shop in hamden Dave contacted me about doing the restorations for him. they do not do the body and paint work at Dave's shop in branford he has other shops do that. with our old shop in branford we wouldn't even consider doing a bugeye. they are a car that will cost as much to restore as the car will be worth once they are restored. in my hamden shop it's just me working now so the shops overhead is a 1/4 of what our shop in branford was so my labor rate is also much less being so the lower value cars can get restored. what I'm doing now is more fabrication work not as much restoration work. I'm building more roll cages and cars for racing staying more away from body work. |
