Just wondering whats the bet way to get the under coating off the wheel well side of the inner fenders on my 931. Aircraft paint stripper & a paint scraper or wire wheel.

Well I'll be watching to see if there are any easy ways to do this but I can tell you media blast won't work. I'm planing on wire wheel along with heat gun and scraper(s).

I have yet to try this on undercoated panels, but I've found that permatex gasket remover takes off powdercoating.
Maybe I'll give it a shot. |

Did mine today... BIG PITA!
I used wire wheel and heat w/scrapers. Took about 5hrs. for both. Time for beer and Ibuprofen. ![]()

I have done it on several cars (not p-cars) and I have always found the more you can take off with a heat gun and scraper, the better. I find using the wire wheel heats it up and it makes a pretty big mess, scotch brite work well, and acetone to take off the last of it.
On one of the other threads they were talking about using an air chisel or scaling chisel for taking it off, I don't think air chisels and sheet metal should really meet, one slip and they can do alot of damage. But that is just my opinion. |
