Porsche Crest Factory Green Window Jigs?

Does anyone know how much the factory green window jigs are or if anyone else is making them?

I am looking for a set or plan on making my own.

Maybe porsche962 would know. If not what do you use?

Thanks.

What your are talking about are the factory special tools. I have been trying to locate a set of all three with no success. Even Porsche AG says they are not available and they have only one set that they use in their Classic Restoration shop. If someone has a set, I would be willing to lease them so I can finish installation of the roof skin and rear quarter panels.

Yeah those are the ones.

I posted some pictures in under that same post in the technical section.

I guess I will need to make them.

I wonder if they would be the same size for 1964-1994?

Thanks for posting.

Will they fit through '94? I believe they will 'cause the 993 workshop manual calls out the same tools.

So, why aren't they available? Why don't body shops have a set? Are they that expensive that nobody can afford them?

the jigs your talking about are like gold . the only one in my shop that can use them is me . they are not needed all that often as the only time you would really need then is if your replacing the hole ass end of the car . the reason why shops don't have them is that when a car is hit that hard for you to need them the car is a total . also when the car is on the frame bench there are measuring points that will tell you if the upper body of the car is straight or not .

Can you tell me those measuring points? The workshop manual blue-prints don't mention them. Instead the manuals say to use the special jigs to check the openings.

What would it take to fabricate a set?

I would like to know these measuring points also. I have a bench and 911/930 jigs.

looking at them they may look like a simple thing to fab up but the under side of the jig has steps in them on is to set down inside of the pinch weld and the other sits inside of the chanel were the glass sits . its a simple cross measurement to do on the window openings . if the cross measurements are the same or with in 2.5 MM it should be ok to set the glass in . the reason measurements are hard to find is because taking a cross measurement is faster and easier to do . i have tried many times to try to post the measurements and email them out to people . it does not work to send them i have to make them to small to see . the pages in my crash book are 36" x 24" .

Looking for close-up pictures if anyone has them. I am getting ready to make a set to use on one of my cars. Thanks.

It doesn't look simple to make but if none are available then I will have to make them. No choice really.

Dave Coleman made a perfect one with us in his shop. Took about 40 minutes. He used a good chassis to make the jig. Worked perfectly replacing the roof on a '69 coupe. We had the jig for years but passed it along when it was needed. I think Dave has it now. -- Matt

Would making a carbonfiber plug from a true chassis be as good if not better?
I have a 96 shell here, I'm going to try making carbonfiber jigs. I'm going to start the lay-ups over OEM glass then move on to the body.

I would be interested in a set.

I also like the fixtures used for door openings. I wonder is a set of those can be fabricated.
