porsche 356 "off white" fan shroud

i powdercoat vw and porsche engine tin for a living. awesomepowdercoat.com

i have color matched the 356 in the black, silver and gray, but white has been elusive. I finally found a white shroud, but it is in bad shape, but you can tell it was white at one time.

so, folks often, but not always, call it "off white", any idea what that means? anyone got a factory white shroud? this is for 64-65 porsche 356C. i have seen plenty of white shrouds on the internet, but they are always "bright white" so i am not sure

what is best, if it was just me, i would say it is very light gray.

can anyone help me?

These threads over at Samba may help you.

Then ones I've seen have always been more gray than white. Very light grey. If you refer to a greyscale it would be the first color after white on the scale. At least that's how I've interpreted it.

Here is a good pic from a current BAT auction showing the "correct" color. Just a slightly grey white.

I've never seen or heard of a white shroud. Black, Silver, and light gray are the only colors I've ever seen.

Almost looks like the 61 Heron Grey. Not white, not grey, just off dirty white.

The light gray color has been discussed on the 356 Registry at length (and it does look almost white in certain lighting). A match for this gray (besides the paint Stoddard sells) is actually a generic medium gray enamel spray paint sold at Ace hardware under their name. If you search the 356 Registry you can find the actual paint code / part number for the Ace brand paint (pictured below on the fan shroud from my old 356C).

Stoddard has the exact OEM color, in a spray can.
