Found this in a box of parts

I bought out a Porsche repair facility many years ago. This was one item that I can’t identify. Looks like a dash mounted grab handle. Anyone recognize this?

The upper is the grab handle on the right hand side of the dashboard from speedster/roadster.

The lower is the accessory socket that installs under the left hand edge of the dashboard. If you want to sell that I am missing one.

Also my google research shows a different result for that grab handle. This one fastens on with two screws on one end. The speedster roadster handles have studs on both sides.

The 6 volt radar detector of course! All joking aside about the only thing I've ever actually seen that could be plugged in there was a little hand-held trouble light. I think maybe I once saw a picture of coffee pot in a period VW brochure. Then someone figured out it was just as easy to make the plug fit the cigarette lighter.

I'll give you 50 bucks for it, shipped. PM me if interested. I don't go on Ebay.

Don't know what the grab handles go for. Probably not too much as they are not often lost or damaged, and are reproduced by the hundreds for the fake speedster crowd. Yours is probably an original.

Pm me for the dash socket. That seems more than fair.
Hopefully someone else recognizes that handle. I’ve been moving that thing around for years and no luck identifying it.
There was speedster roof latches in that box so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s from a speedster. My guess is maybe a Pre A item.

This board is pretty dead these days. Was this the best place to post this question?
Its been a few years since I frequented the pelican forums.

Do you have a price in mind for the grab handle?

I won't know its value until I can identify it. I am assuming you can do that. Care to share?

Not entirely sure, but I think it is from a 1955 pre-a (coupe/cab, NOT speedster)

Can you see that it uses two screws instead of the commonly found 3 screws?
