1600cc VW Type 1 engine (still in crate)

I obtained a brand new VW 1600 engine still strapped in the crate. Found it at an estate sale and would like to sell it. It is a long block and from what I am told, the stamps on the case indicate it is a new case with new heads and new cylinders not reconditioned. It has dual port heads and comes with a gasket set for intake etc. I am looking for $950.00 and will consider delivery (for fuel used) in a reasonable proximity from Rochester, NY. I travel to the Stamford, CT area about once a month so anywhere along the Thruway route towards NYC should not be a problem.

do you know if it's an upright motor? Does it have a hole in the right side front case for a dipstick?

I will check for you. I am out of town until Wednesday night (9/13).
Can you clarify location. Front right looking at the motor if it was in the engine bay, with front being closest to the bumper.

nylifer; YES, the oil dipstick is where you indicate. The motor is a Beetle motor, so it will take the "upright" features you asked about. Let me know if you are still interested.

First off, the post was from 2006 and the very first line says : "EDIT: PRICE REDUCED TO $800 OBO. SOLD SOLD SOLD"

It is still sold and I have no idea where you can find any more.
