Porsche 904 engine type 587/3 4 cam for sale

For sale - complete running and rebuilt 1964/65 Porsche 904 engine.

587/3 Engine built using a NOS blank 904 case - no serial number. This is the plain bearing, reliable 1966cc 198HP and the last of the 4 cam engines. Anyone with a car powered by an original 4 cam engine should take note as this engine will fit your car and you will benefit from the improvements of 587/3 version and not need to deal with roller bearings.

Completely restored/rebuilt by Vernon Crotts of GK Restorations for a prominent vintage Porsche collector in the mid 2000s using all original parts. This engine was built before the reproduction parts of today were available so everything is as it should be with old world parts. There was quite a process to complete this engine.

Within the last year or so the engine was independently tuned and checked for issues by KAM Motorsports - no problems found

Only 400+ miles on the engine since rebuild, no racing as this car is only used for street driving

Currently mounted in a perfect condition 904 as seen in the pictures and can be seen and heard running before the sale but we do plan to remove this engine sometime in Fall/Winter of 2017. The current owner has a respectable 4 cam car collection so you needed need to worry about who you are dealing with. The only reason for the sale is we acquired the matching number engine for our car and we do not go racing so the extra engine is of no use to us

Engine is sold complete and in running condition, the Weber 46mm carburetors do not go with the engine but we will replace them with Weber 48mm carburetors. The 904 air cleaner and exhaust are also not included as they will be used on the other engine. All other items such as flywheel, distributors, fan, sheet metal and peripheral items that one would expect an engine to have are included.
