2x 912 engines in parts for sale
I converted my 69 912 to electric. Not going back. It's that good.
Two motors in parts minus some things I've sold. - The /39 (from a 68) was a recent rebuild due to a prior cracked cam follower following a missed shift. That rebuild was short-lived due to the ring eating monster on #3 when a wrist pin retainer worked loose and the pin moved. Has an "ebi" crank at first under on all with receipt for machine work in Santa Rosa. Third piece tapped for full flow w/ filter. Dellorto carbs. Workable sheetmetal including heater boxes. Bursch tubes to a flowmaster muffler. Maestro grind cam – narrow lobe. Lightened flywheel. Oil cooler sold. Probably NPR 1720’s. I have another 6-8 steel cylinders from past rebuilds of original (gone) /40 motor that go with the lot. Super 90 heads. Chrome carb pre-heaters and 6 hole engine mount U bar with valve clearance decal. Third piece is dated 65, and includes “*KD*P8xxxxx” marking; I’ve been told this means rebuilt at the factory in Germany. - the /36 was a motor parked in 1970’s due to rod knock on #2. Beautifully painted sheet metal including heater boxes and shroud. Oil filter stand painted orange; never had a drip of oil in it… I think this was a motor that may have been a race motor dressed for resale after rod knock developed. Guy I bought it from kept it in his garage in plastic as a spare for his now sold 912. Never ran it. Solex carbs are sold. 68 heads without smog bosses - don’t look fly-cut. This engine had a cylinder leak on #4 due to a misplaced head bolt washer under the rocker assembly – probably never ran right and led to the rod knock on #2. Seems to have 85.5mm Mahle P&C’s. Of the four, only one has a cracked top ring. Still see honing marks in cylinders. Porsche crank and case are BOTH standard measurements. Third piece was not numbered and is sold. I am hoping to find a buyer for everything for $5k. I have case numbers at home scribbled in my maestro spec book. Third piece # mismatch on the /39 was the only ‘hmm’. Will work with you on shipping and handling. As parts, we’re looking at about 5 yellow top Costco containers of bits. I’d imagine the best shipment method would be strapped to a pallet. Make an offer if $5k isn't worth your risk. I am itching to build another electric motor for a 914 track car.
