Where was rat number 6?

There should be an official 'rodent find' thread to show all the common hiding spaces.

colingreene 11-09-2018 07:33 AM

Someone before me put flares on it.
If you look in the wheel wells it becomes sort of obvious it was not a factory effort.
I may go back and fix it at some point but for now its alright.
The last two rats i found were under the speedometer and the other was in the passenger side hole that the filler neck uses on the drivers side.
The car has devolped a no start condition so i need to sort that out now and I have a small flat spot on throttle tip in.
I called PMO for the part i wanted but he was less than helpful.

Post a pic of the dizzy with the new cap next to it. We can help identify the correct cap you need. Also the number stamped in the side will tell what dizzy you have. That's funny about the turbo application on the early 2.7.

colingreene 12-06-2018 10:52 AM

So currently I am trying to work with PMB to put some S calipers on this and rebuild my rears and replace the rear calipers, the car will stop if you really stand on the brakes but it leaves a lot to be desired compared to my 914.
I really wanted turbo calipers but the cost is keeping me from doing it.
The other thing i was considering doing was sanding my window frames and door handles to remove the black and polish them to a nice shine.
Another thing i need to sort out a little better is the carbs. Been trying to work with PMO
so ill update when i get the parts from him.

On the tranny issue...check the coupler under the plate on your back seat tunnel. It either needs re indexing/adjusting and/or new bushings. Easy fix and a common complaint on older cars.

Six rats?! You may have the original rat rod.

Great posts. Keep us in the loop.

Very cool car.

Check your mixture to be sure you are not running too lean as this will also raise oil temperatures.

colingreene 12-07-2018 03:28 PM

I have replaced the coupler and the selector shaft seal.
weirdly that was the only leak on the car till the oil feed lines to the cam boxes started to seep.
Ive since replaced those as well.
I do have a wideband on it so i have been working on that as well.
Ill post some pictures over the weekend.

[QUOTE=colingreene;10112421]So my car seems to have difficulty going into 5th/Reverse.
I can shift it into 5th but it wants to stick there, Ill be attempting to adjust the clutch to see if that helps

Looks like an adjustment on the linkage is required. Slacken the pinch bolt next to the coupler and rotate the gearbox side of the shaft clockwise a very SMALL amount. Tighten bolt and check. (Clockwise when sitting in the car looking ahead).

colingreene 01-20-2019 03:09 PM

Finally got the number off the distrubutor. its marked as

0 237 306 001

Shifting seems to be ok other than a tired 3rd gear synchro.
We did a compression test and the results showed just over 240psi on all cyls.
I am considering pulling it down and twin plugging the motor to get it to run right, or just see what the motor is but my 914 has sort of eaten into my budget a little bit.
Ill include a picture of why that is also.

Heres how it looks now

The brakes are pretty crappy if I am honest heres what the fronts look like, I Have a set of late S calipers I picked up here on pelican that will go on the front and I put these rears on it from PMB.
As always thanks to Eric and the gang for that.
Also yes my wheel well is that clean from just a tooth brush and water, its amazing.

I was wondering that too.

colingreene 01-30-2019 08:42 AM

unimportant, thats my problem not yours.

Anyone know of any window frames in silver being sold rather than the black ones i have.
Door handles also.
the car is a mis match if parts and it bothers me.

Gee that is a wiseguy answer......leaves us to assume that "you know a guy!"

colingreene 01-30-2019 02:24 PM

LJ851 arent you on R3vlimited?

LJ851 01-31-2019 04:30 AM

Yes

colingreene 01-31-2019 07:09 AM

Thought I remembered your thread about your 911

kent olsen 01-31-2019 07:21 AM

Yeah I don't think I've ever seen that much compression either??

911obgyn 01-31-2019 08:14 AM

Is that really 16-1 compression?
I smell a rat. Or could that be part of the overheating problem?
