The sills were aluminum color and beat to heck. I decided to try painting them and putting a couple coats of clear on them and see how well they hold up. They come out easy so can repaint or replace as needed. I like doing little individual touches like that the best I think. Bought some spray paint from a car paint place that is a perfect match for my 2 color codes. Really comes in handy for stuff like that. |

Another quick video update. The interior is basically complete.
You may notice a few items in the video. 1. The AC control switches are just laying on the floor. I am deleting the old center console that housed them. My engineer buddy is helping me come up with a plan to hide those in an accessible location under the dash 2. Lots of people leave the shift mechanism uncovered. I am more a fan of a boot so had one made up with the matching stitching to the seats and dash. 3. I had a custom shift knob milled. Finished hooking up everything this morning that is needed to crank the car. Once I got the driver front fender on I hooked up the fuel filler and rest of the fuel system. Basically just need to add oil and gas and then get to the firing process and see if it will actually run and not blow up/burn down.
Got my tires from tire rack. Sent me 3 year old fronts. Ridiculous!! Waiting for replacements to come. Once those come me and my buddy are gonna mount them on the wheels. Im not is a huge rush to start it yet. Still need to put the front bumper on and hook up all the lights. Need to get the drivers door on and sunroof in. Then I need to wire up the windows and mirrors within the doors. I need to get a new battery and test all the electrics and see what sort of problems I have now. Honestly I am anticipating a lot of issues to work through. Pretty bummed out with all that is going on and dont really want to face massive disappointment if something bad goes wrong so will just keep working away on the other stuff until I knock all that out. The only thing I am waiting for to accomplish after I get it running is putting the rear bumper on, glass install and final interior work. (figure 50/50 chance the motor comes back out and the bumper will be a lot of work to install so might as well wait) |

The quarantine is rough, and the impact to your industry is a gut punch: that is for sure.
It is at times like these when I like to lean on positive things: Dood ... you are building a Porsche! Solid custom build at that! I am not sure that most population have the ability to do that, so: another positive in your corner! When getting down on things, and looking at what could be wrong when you start to dial in electronics (Believe it: MANY have really struggled with that in these cars) - take a quick look at that head liner and realize how sweet the work and journey has been thus far. Take it slow, pace yourself and keep those hands moving; I really have enjoyed your build thus far!

Set a goal to drive this on my birthday (6/3). My friend tells me if you make your goal public you are 30% more likely to make it happen.
Put the drivers door on yesterday before work. Sunroof in last night, front bumper a couple days ago. All body parts are back on the car except the rear bumper which won’t go on until after it runs. Tires getting mounted this week. (Although first start will be with old wheels in case it burns down). Been spending hours sanding and polishing trim. Maybe 40% done. Did apply power and move the sunroof. That was first electrical task and was pleased it worked. At least something is wired correctly. Coming soon projects: Finish trim polish and install Install drivers door parts Install interior door panels Install seats Install headlights ( converting to H4s) Make final panel alignment Set ride height and align suspension Install glass Check fuel system for leaks Check all electrical components Fill with oil and turn motor to distribute oil Probably a 100 other little things. Fire it up and hope it works. Shakedown everything. End is actually in sight. Up to 577 hours labor. |

New wheels are on for the first time. They have been sitting in the box in my parts room since December 2018. Sitting on the ground for the first time since I put the majority of the weight back in it. Apparently ready for a Safari rally. Got a lot of work to do obviously on suspension setup.
I was debating about trim color. Elected to sand and polish all my aluminum trim and left it with more of a brushed finish look. Now that the wheels are on it all kind of ties together and I am pleased with that decision. ![]()

I had the same 'high water' look when I lightened my SC....the fronts are easy the rears take some doing with stock set up.
Don't do anything tho until you put everything in place and drive it.....things settle...I suspect you will get some drop.

I completely changed all the suspension and had no idea where to set it. It is wildly off but I have the adjustable setup from elephant racing so hopefully wont be to difficult to dial in.

It will sit high at first like Reiver said. Once you get it out on the driveway you can stand on the doorsill and bounce it up and down and then go for a drive. See how high it is after you let it settle.
There is also a calculator that Will Ferch made that can help you get in the ballpark. The ER adjustable will let you fine tune for corner balancing. Did you get the quick change torsion bars? If so that will make it much easier if you have to re-index.
