Changing out CDI for electronic distributor
I have a 77 with a Perma Tune CDI. I am trying to bypass the CDI and run a fully electronic distributor in its place. I have disconnected the CDI main harness and the 3 wires running to the unit - Pos side of coil to A on Perma Tune, Black neg side of coil going to ? and the Black purple going into the old points. In order to get my bearings correct I have a wire going from switch positive to coil positive and points (green wire) to coil neg. Everything is running but I have lost my tach. I want to say the purple/black wire that was going into the points should be able to go to the negative side of the coil, but I'm just not sure since i checked and the black/purple has power going to it when the ignition is on but the car is not started.

Draw a picture of what you have done and what you are using for an electronic distributor
And post it for us to help figure it out. Your long paragraph jumps all over and is difficult to interpret. Pictures work...

Here is the current setup. While my car ran without the CDI hooked in, it did not seem to run well. Maybe the timing was off while monkeying around with the dist. Worse case I guess I will just use the CDI in conjunction with the fully electronic dist.
