Also had manual crank windows, no fogs (so a plain front valence).
Ditto for my ROW ‘78

Mine is long gone on my 78 SC. Doing the same for my 74 Tii. These factory 'add ons' drive me crazy(chrome included). They were simply installed to add stuff that wasn't originally designed into the cars and IMO, clutter the cabin.

Nice job BTW.

I always try to keep things original but this is a no-brainer. So, rippin' the one out of my '77 since the A/C is now gone and don't need the controls. But keeping everything for the next guy.

Why the hate for center consoles? I use mine all the time. What does it weigh? 5lbs?

Hate is a very strong word. Don’t know if you intended it that way, or in the contemporary vernacular. I seriously doubt anyone “hates” consoles but instead prefers the more stripped purposeful look without. Yes it may only be 5 lbs, but 5 lbs here and 5lbs there starts to add up, like deleting rear seat backs which weigh a surprising amount because they have wood frames. So I would say it is a preference in an effort to make our cars lighter and just a touch faster. I took 180 lbs of unnecessary weight out here and there and it made a significant difference.

I deleted mine for the room, not for the weight savings.
My knees and large feet are much happier now.

I am thinking about the delete but have to figure out where to place my voltmeter which is mounted to the plate on top. Since I dont have AC, the center vent is moot...any idea if its possible to get a blanking plate for that?

Where are you relocating your hazard switch?

hazard switch isnt on console in a 77 targa..in fact, the voltmeter was installed there because it was the simplest area to get to without major work on the dash. Ideally, redo one gauge and add voltmeter to it..but i dont see that happening this year

I wouldn't blank it. I think a plate would look odd there.

You could use your AC fan behind the dash to add some additional airflow from that vent to help with hot summer days even if it isn't air conditioned.

Some delete their ashtray and insert a black plastic piece where one or two gauges are added. Their are pictures out there. You might try searching ‘ashtray’ ‘delete’ ‘gauges’. Like here on posts 17 and 18. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/821070-show-me-pics-volt-gage-install.html
