Center console delete SC
Very happy with my center console delete, Coco mats and 917 gear knob. a goods morning's play:)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1540475949.jpg

What a tidy cabin. Love it.

Cheers

That looks so clean. Bet you won’t miss the weight either. IMHO center consoles heralded the end of true sports cars by starting their bloatification.
Beautiful combination of textures and colors. Well done sir. |

Looks good!
Did all SCs come with a center console? |
Thanks for all your kind comments.

Most did but not all. Just talking here. European 911's may have a higher frequency of non center counsel cars given the frequency of fabric inserts observed there? Euro (ROW) cars are more practical and US cars are "bloatified" as a rule. All leather, etc. |
I did the same. What did you use to plug the holes?
|
Love it.

I'm an odd ball where I didn't like the delete and went back installing it. I daily the car and I drive the car to the track. I put helmet on the passenger floor on my way to the track and I was bothered with helmet rolling toward the driver side floor. That's an example but as I occasionally carry stuff using the passenger floor space, I wanted something there to prevent stuff rolling into the driver side floor. It seems the center console is a reasonable solution.

I plugged the holes, 1 big and 2 small with rubber grommets that fitted perfectly. I just have to remember them when i vacuum the mats! might go for a small dab of black silicone to hold them down.

Great minds must think alike, knob, steering wheel, console delete, have coco mats, but not pictured. :)

Greetings from Germany!
Looks great and am inspired to do something similar to my 911. Thanks for posting :) Erik |

All these photos are tempting me. I think a rennshift and some new mats are in my future.
|
Love the berber sport seats!
As for consoles, I daily my SC so I left mine in. It's a great place to keep snacks and bottled water on road trips. |

My 78 SC targa did not have a console... Also had manual crank windows, no fogs (so a plain front valence). |

I'm 6'5" and it feels like I have more room with the console delete. |
|
No console its the way to go. Well done Sir! Here is my 1985:

Mine is long gone on my 78 SC. Doing the same for my 74 Tii. These factory 'add ons' drive me crazy(chrome included). They were simply installed to add stuff that wasn't originally designed into the cars and IMO, clutter the cabin.
Nice job BTW. Nick |
Huge fan of the no center console.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1540679548.jpg

I always try to keep things original but this is a no-brainer. So, rippin' the one out of my '77 since the A/C is now gone and don't need the controls. But keeping everything for the next guy.
|
Recently deleted mine as well. Ran out of time to deal with the AC wiring..where can I trace those back to? (AC is deleted as well)
|
Why the hate for center consoles? I use mine all the time. What does it weigh? 5lbs?

I deleted mine for the room, not for the weight savings.
My knees and large feet are much happier now. |
I am thinking about the delete but have to figure out where to place my voltmeter which is mounted to the plate on top. Since I dont have AC, the center vent is moot...any idea if its possible to get a blanking plate for that?
|
Where are you relocating your hazard switch?
|
hazard switch isnt on console in a 77 targa..in fact, the voltmeter was installed there because it was the simplest area to get to without major work on the dash. Ideally, redo one gauge and add voltmeter to it..but i dont see that happening this year

You could use your AC fan behind the dash to add some additional airflow from that vent to help with hot summer days even if it isn't air conditioned. |
|
Beautiful interiors in this thread!
