Smoke coming from oil filler tube/oil filter area

As the title suggests, I have some smoke coming from around the oil filler tube and oil filter area. Nothing from below or out of the exhaust. Any suggestions on where I can start checking this would be appreciated.

Looks like an engine oil leak from the lube system (filter, oil fled pipe, loose filler pipe hose, crack?, etc.). What do you see under the car? My guess - oil leaking from ? onto the heat exchanger (exhaust).

I don't see any oil on the ground, and when under the car I don't see any smoke at all. It's only visible from above the engine. It definitely smells like oil burning, though, so it seems like that has to be it.

Not an overfill, I thought that could be it too, but measuring the oil it shows correct on the dipstick.

Measured with engine warm and on, on flat ground. Hopefully that's right!

Hadn't considered running the car with the cap off, will try that tonight.

It may be coming from the right heat exchanger. If the heater box is closed, the air from the heat exchanger is dumped under the car by the right axle. Smoke from there can come through the gap between the suspension crossmember, and the rear seat pan. Take a look further forward and see if the smoke is actually coming from the area of the RR upper shock mount, forward of the charcoal canister.

Did you figure this out ?

The vid appears to show smoke from the vicinity of the breather hose and "pulsing", meaning not just a static burning pool. The second vid shows oil staining around the filler pipe around there.

I'm thinking that the oil tank cap gasket is broken or missing.

nothing gets hot enough on the oil tank to create smoke. oil on the exhaust makes that kind of smoke.
you need to look under the car for a nice big oil leak that makes that amount of smoke non stop. that is if keeps smokes like that continuously.

when first reading your post I was thinking a small amount that could possible be coming from the engine and blow by making its way back into the oil tank and out, perhaps the oil cap as someone suggested or maybe from a hose connections on the tank. buts that's a lot of smoke.

Brandon:

Car needs to be running when you check oil. if you're seeing proper oil levels with the engine off (suggested by your comment above that you hadn't considered running the car with the [oil] cap off"), you've likely overfilled your oil.

Take the oil cap off and see if pressurized air / smoke is coming out. if it is, no bueno (bad ring for rings).

What year 911?

Car needs to be hot, level and at idle to check oil level with the dip stick.
