993tt to GT2 clone
Bought the best candidate for a GT2 clone ever. (pretty much my favorite car) Car is a 1997 993turbo in artic silver. Has been a customer car for 10+ years and driven only on Sundays and maybe a few Saturdays also. Spent time doing DE's and was built back when these cars were worth maybe $50k. Original doors and fenders with good gaps and a whole bunch of rock chips up front. Converted to two wheel drive when I first got it back in September. Got rid of 80lbs weight in one day. From there it went to metal guy to get sunroof welded up. He cuts the opening larger by approx. 1" so there is no rolled lip anymore. From there he rolls a flat piece of sheet to get the right curve and tig welds it in place. Came out beautiful and needing almost no filler. More pics to come. Car is almost ready for paint. very cool! did the GT2 of the era have any of the bits from the widebody NA RSR's race cars suspension and chassis wise?
|
Sure would like to get rid of the sunroof in my SC. . . Lame excuse to post and subscribe to this thread, I know.

The street Gt2 suspension was more closely related to the 993RS |

Hey @skidmark,
Is this one of your engine builds? Would have been in 2007 according to the receipts: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1982-porsche-911sc-35/ Thanks, Charles |
Did Porsche not have rear fender vents on that model of Turbo? Will you be adding them?

When you are done are you anticipating a greater value or is that not an issue? I really don’t know how values are influenced for this kind of change.

Mine with flairs. I SCOURED the internet looking for pics of how factory steel fenders got cut with no luck. Fortunately I have a customer with an original GT2 street car and he was totally cool about bringing his car by so I could rack it and take lots of pictures. His were cut back so much I decided to cut mine after they are painted so they can sand and buff the surface without it distorting like a wet noodle. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1544578533.JPG

Should also mention that sorry to say the red wheels will be going away after the body shop is done painting car. Leaning towards BBS E88 wheels with retro gold centers. 12's in back and 9's in front with LOTS OF LIP! (only a little stretch though)
If one of you has to have them I could be talked out of them. Kinesis 8 and 11" by 18" and 80% r6 hoosiers bought this year. |
Body shop is prepping car and could be painted within two weeks. Motor has less than 50k miles but I am rebuilding top-end anyways. Exhaust valve guides were worn so they were replaced and full valve job. I ported intake side of heads and also am running a set of 1995 993 n/a cams. With the 1.bar boost remap I am hoping for 550hp. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1546300768.JPG

I did a RUF 600 hp kit on a customer TT years ago and they sent new n/a 993 cams in the kit. My cam grinder said the n/a cams are bigger however I should double check that since you bring it up. The next step up is 3.8rs cams but they get a bit too lumpy at idle
