Question about the Blower

My lates project is to fix the blower, I already bought the motor. When I opened the housing I saw the rubbers/seals and they are very old. is it possible to buy them? or which material can I use to rebuild it?

thanks

I recently had mine apart and found the same thing, probably original stuff. I could not find a source for OEM replacement stuff, so used very thin foam insulation with the sticky backing and also added some industrial strength glue to be sure. Cured it overnight and ran a bench test with 12V power supply before installing. You can normally find the foam in rolls in hardware store and perhaps auto supply stores.

yes, thin foam - thin wetsuit material is even better

oil the motor while it's out

clean all the crap out of the ducting

be very careful with those spring clips - eye protection and a sparse area to search for the ones that pop away from you - use a rod above them ot catch them...

Thanks guys, this weekend I will try to fix i. I really appreciate your inputs, and the people who email me directly.

Someone sent me the following link for neoprene washers:

the replacement parts already cut to the correct size can be ordered at 914rubber.com. I also replaced my fan blower housing seal which had also deteriorated. they sell that also. very reasonable

What are the odds - I just finished replacing the seals! Couldn't find suitable rubber foam so I bought a 4mm sheet of neoprene rubber and cut the seals. Because the rubber is rather hard, I was able to sand it down to fit perfectly, rounding off the edges so that they don't impede rotation.
