AEM 30-4110 wideband-02-kit reliability

looking to buy another wide-band kit - had the older AEM 4.2 kit on my 3.2 914-6 & it worked great 4 yrs

the 4.9 30-4110 was supposed to be better

lots of bad reviews of the 4.9 30-4110 on Amazon, & same for Innovate kit - & once you open the box NO WARRANTY or RETURN

what's the consensus here?

reviving this long older thread

What failed on your 4.2 kit? Mine is still working after 5 years and about 10k miles per year.

my AEM 4.9 kit died within days. Previous LC-1 kit with 4.2 sond was still working fine after some 6 years. Uncle google suggested the 4.9 could be more sensitive to condensed water in exhaust hitting the already fully hot sensor. Sensor heats very quick after ignition is switched on. I rewired and now AEM gets power via relay with time delay. It now starts 30 seconds after engine. No further issues with sensor. My time delay is in the MS2 ECU but could be as simple as a switch. Just avoid starting cold engine with a hot sensor. To be considered
