History for my 1971 911T

I have a 1971 911T that I bought about 10 years ago and wondering where I can get any history on this car with VIN # 91111009020000000.. What I know it was a track car I believe in Utah. Looking at the engine the serial number has been ground off but the 911/51 stamp is still there indicating it is a 2.4 and not original to the car. Not sure why this was done and disappointed in that

Any help where I can get history on it is greatly appreciated

Replacement cases from the factory do not have a serial number. No serial number indicates a full rebuild on the motor.

Thanks for the info. Makes sense it’s built for the track back in the early’70’s

A "factory unstamped case" is much different than the "number being ground off" case. If you don't have documentation as to what has been done to the motor, it is all speculation. I would not assume it has has a full rebuild.

You might try posting in the AutoX and racing forum as well as the Rennlist forum. Maybe someone will recognize it.

Well being a 2.4 with E cams and the upgrade to hydraulic cam tensioners that weren't available until '84 some work was progressively done over the years. With that said the Speedometer had 50K miles and assume this engine has something less than that since it is not original. When I pulled it from the car is had a set of 46mm Weber's on it and you couldn't drive down the road under 4000 RPM no matter how slow you were driving it LOL

My plan is to tear it down anyway and do a complete rebuild on it for the seals and gaskets and any mechanical issues I find along the way if any. I will check out AutoX. Thanks for the reference. I did check Rennlist but didn't get any responses.

I put a 2.7 in it about 8 years ago and new transmission so planning on keeping it for a while. I also pulled the old 901 transmission out with the 2.4 engine and installed the 915 transmission with the 2.7 engine. An extensive and long list of other upgrades and work on all the wear parts at that time as well Runs great with the new setup for the street. Only has about 2,500 miles on this new setup
