I haven't used this....but a few minutes of searching and I found this info,,,,,hitting the space bar will put a mark in the log that MLV will display as a vertical red line in the graph and status bar.

Today was the first time I took it on to the freeway. It ran good enough that I didn’t run into any problems or engine dying. I still have a very rich issue at cold drive off and some light backfires on decelerations especially when followed by acceleration.

I need to try and get on a dyno; weather stopped my attempt to get on the schedule last fall.
Great progress! Happy to hear you're on the road. Have the same light backfires on deceleration, and have been talking with a relatively local mechanic on my AFR tables. Look forward to hearing on how you fare on the dyno!

Thanks Al!

Easy enough to safely do while driving and I really think might be useful in tuning out trouble spots.

Hi Al,

You’ve been dealing with me, what do you think the chances are that I can figure out how to post a video?!

Al,

Thanks for the info on marking trouble areas. I used it on two runs this afternoon and it is very helpful, not only does it put the lines on the screen, but on the progress bar at the bottom as well, so you can quickly find areas that the car was misbehaving.

I find easiest way is to upload to youtube, then post the link here.

Rutager....take a video with your phone or camera and email the file to me and I'll post it for you.
I do what Michael is suggesting...I upload to youtube and then provide a link in my post.....but if you have not done that before....just email it to me.

Note: With the EDIS system, the EDIS controller controls the Dwell, so i suspect that the TunerStudio/datalog of the Dwell is meaningless......you can shut down that log channel in Megalog viewer.....
Glad that method of marking the trouble areas is working well.

regards,
al

PS: you too, Bert....

Al,

Not sure why that dwell is showing, I never selected it; there have been a couple software updates, so that might be the reason? I’ll unselect it.

Well, progress is being made. Between Al’s suggestions and my tuning runs, I’m getting to a point were the car is driving pretty good and most of the misfires and backfires have gone away.

I still need to do work on starts and in gear deceleration.

I did verify that my IAC opens when cold and shuts as the engine warms up.

I only get to do a few runs every couple days, so it is slow going. I need to get ahold of the dyno shop again as we ran out of weather last season to get an appointment.

Thanks for all your help, Al. BTW, I only have single plugs. It was a steep learning curve (and continuing) but well worth it.

Thanks Bert

I’m getting there and just sent an email to the local tuner dyno shop to try and get an appointment.

Thanks for posting the video Al.

Not much happening yet, I have been doing minor adjustments and getting closer each time. Although my cold starts and warmup tune is problematic.

Al is going to take a look at my most recent tune and make some more recommendations.

The dyno shop I found seems to be real good judging by reviews, but the business end seems to be run loosely and I’m not having much luck getting an appointment. I did another Google search and found a couple others that might be viable, so I will make a few calls next week.

My engine runs hot and it has never had any oil cooling besides on the engine, not even the trombone, so expensive to add. I did have this canister looking thing with fins that spliced into the lower oil line to the tank on it before and I think it really helped- I will put it back on soon, but only when I haven’t changed anything, so I can compare to see if it works and by how much.

Interesting. Since the conversion, my engine also is definitely running hotter than it did before. I don't have any other cooler either, so have been watching this on my drives. I didn't put on my IAC as of yet, so my cold starts are inconsistent - better around 50-70 degrees F, but more challenging above 75 degrees. Because warm up seems good, I haven't fooled around with putting on the IAC and trying to calibrate it - yet. Haven't been able to find a dyno in my neck of the woods, so continue to work on this myself, iteratively. Good luck in getting your beast onto the dyno!

Hi Bert,

I would think mine would run cooler because it is slightly rich, but I’m not an expert by any measure.

I just plugged and took my IAC offline for work on the cold start like Al told me to several times before.

I seriously need some time off from work for many reasons, but being able to do multiple runs several days in a row would certainly speed things up.

Made several more dyno calls with no luck. One place which is very popular with Porsche folks in the area showed a dyno on their website, but a call found that they got rid of it; guy still thinks one of his techs could tune it without a dyno, but I’m picturing one tech driving while one tunes and me paying two techs! For a much more time consuming tune than on a dyno where trouble areas can be isolated and easily repeated.
