911SC Front Ride Height Adjustment
Hello:
Just need some advice. This is a picture of the front driver side torsion bar cap. The adjusting screw is backed out as far as it can to lower the front of car. Unfortunately, I would like to lower the front another 1/2 inch. So in order to do so, do I remove the torsion bar cap and rotate it CCW? If so, do I tighten the adjusting screw all the way to the top? Once back on the ground, will backing the screw out again give me the adjustment to decrease the ride a bit more? The passenger side still has room for backing out the adjusting screw. Thanks ahead of time.....

I'd say you need to remove both torsion bars and re-index them in the same way on both sides.

Thanks....that is the point, they are currently not indexed the same. The passenger side is almost horizontal with about 1/2 inch of adjusting screw travel remaining. This (driver) side has the adjusting screw backed out almost all the way yet the ride height is the same on both sides. So I was planning on just re-indexing the driver side. I have never done this procedure and wanted to make sure I understood the process. Thanks!

It is not a bad idea to check both for any corrosion and to grease...and while doing this ..how old is/are the rubber bushings? As they age they deform allowing the torsion bar to rub.
I know...that slope again but if you are there.....

The TBs are located with splines of course, but they have a different number of splines at each end!
You might find that you need to index half a spline at the cap. If you pull the TB out of the other end and rotate a few splines then reinstall the cap you can get the effect of a half a spline. It takes a bit of trial and error.

Do the fronts actually have asymmetric splines or is that just for the rears? I don't recall indexing my fronts at install.

To try and restore some credibility.....if the angle of the caps is not the same it doesn't matter as long as you get the ride height or corner balance you want.

Yes...there is an orientation tho so you do not mount them counter to their original placement. They should only be stressed in one direction after use....or so I am told.

I just overhauled the entire suspension on my car front and back, the front torsion bars have the same spline count fwd and aft. However they are side specific so mark them L/R if you remove them! Pull the cap and reindex it to match the other side then start from there. Like mentioned earlier depending on the condition of your bushings I would pull the bars and check for rubbing/corrosion and recoat them with grease before reinstalling. I also coated my splines with anti seize.
