This is an amazing stat.... had no idea motec tuning for non-pro cars could be that sophisticated....
William Knight persuaded me to get the MoTec M130 over the M800 or M84. Well, he first persuaded me to go with MoTec over Haltech. I am so very glad I did go with the M130.

Al,

Looks great. Two questions........what octane will this motor run on and what is the estimated horsepower and torque #’s you should get?

Just received today........RarlyL8 GT3 active exhaust. I haven't unpacked them yet....but they really look like very nice bits. I can't wait to fire this one up.....still awaiting the GT3 plenum, but it should be here shortly....

GT3 exhaust

Trial fitting the RarelyL8 GT3 exhaust.....this is a thing of beauty....had to modify a bit of the engine tin to eliminate interference, but overall, nice fit and easy install.....

al

Pretty...

Is the valve cutoff ECU or vacuum actuated?

Fired up the 3.8

I fired up the 3.8 and I am verifying all of the sensors, etc are talking, but today the battery was dead....while charging I put the Rasant GT3 Plenum together for a trial fitting........

al

it starts...

Big step forward....it starts and idles pretty nicely....next step is to work on the fuel map to get the no-load tip-in/accel working.....and then I'll hit the road for some varying load/speed tuning......still quite a bit to do, but..one step closer.....

stay tuned,
al

one step closer......

Very cold here today started out at 25F this morning and worked up to a balmy 34F........However, i did get a chance to work on the 3.8RS.......Starts, Idles (fast...IAC needs adjustment?) and good accel response...mild tip-in a bit rough and elusive...but overall....better. My camera mic does not pick up the lower tones........the actual muffler tone is deeper than the video...and sounds much better

it's alive!!!

1st time out of the garage, since installing the ITBs/common plenum/Motec/GT3 exhaust, etc......ran it up and down my drive...to check idling, mild and aggressive tip-in etc. Working very well...at least in the driveway...next step is to hit the road for fine tuning under varying conditions, but so far....very good.

So to celebrate....here's a crappy video of me pulling it back on the lift......

Please excuse the clutter...lot's of stuff happening...all of the time.....

regards,
al

the 3.8RS update

I have this 3.8RS running great and it is fast........I'm wrapping things up and just completed the install of a Sleepers short shift and FDM Golden Rod (RS style shift rod).
I've verified that I can shift into all gears...tomorrow I'll take it out and verify that it is all good.....but it is definitely a nice kit.....

Completing this allowed me to put the interior back together, so it is really starting to look good......

Need to plumb the heat, brake vacuum and other fairly minor tweaks and it is well done.

Here's a pic of the short shifter and......I just noticed how cool the plenum looks through the grille.....

regards,
al

What are the specs of the internals that took it from 3.6 to the 3.8 "RS"? Great looking build!

Cheers
