Prototype G-Body rear reflector
Another Covid boredom moment.I never liked the rear reflector that says PORSCHE.I looked for alternatives but did not see any I cared for.So I made one in metal.Fit came out well.Next I will do the mounting studs.Gumba glued on earth magnets for his aluminum piece he had made.Car is Mango Green so I may Gold Zinc plate this prototype to see how it looks.Open to suggestions as this is a blank canvas to start. Thanks Fred

Nice metal work!
I on the other hand, wished my reflector had the black lettering. |

I'm with you, never cared much for the very large PORSCHE across the back of my car

Carrera RS Emblem
The emblem is way out of my talent range.I think that someone is making them. The one I have is original I bought 5 or 6 years ago.About $150 then I think.

Have JoeBob make you a vinyl wrap out of red reflective material with graphics of your choice?

I like the screen effect. It looks kind of proper.Bob@AOL suggested a red reflective wrap which is probably good from a safety standpoint.I talked to Nathamb and he thought body color would look most natural.I appreciate all the input from everyone. Thanks Fred

Fred, on my old turbo I fabricated just a piece of steel and welded some studs to it. I had it painted black like the rest of the car and did a matte black Porsche lettering
like the IROC. It was subtle but looked good.

That is very subtle and looks good. The PORSCHE lettering does not jump out as much as the stock reflector.I know I have a Porsche and do not feel I need to educate anyone. What car guy in this world does not know hey, that is a 911 Porsche. Thanks

Has anybody ever welded on a lip to the rear deck lid that would just make the whole thing one piece? Ditch the reflector completely. No shut line at the top of where the reflector would sit?
Seems like it wouldn't be a bad look and a fabricator could it with a little ingenuity.

Fred, elegant work! Did you use a shrinker to obtain the contour?

I like your metal Carrera RS badge for the rear reflector piece.
Nice imagination. I think it would need to be painted body color for the badge to show up. But even in satin black, with the badge being kind of stealthy except for the RS part of it....could be cool too. Keep going and let your imagination go wild I say.

So NATHAMBS is the body man and I think he could be correct with keeping the body color. My wife says I can not dress myself so I will give my guess tomorrow. Then you guys can beat me up with my choice which is not body color. Thanks Fred

DZUG made this beautiful carbon fiber piece when they were around a few years back. They also made a Red version. I ended up selling mine when I decided to backdate.
