What is this bracket?

I could swear this came off my 911 but I could not find it in the parts diagram.
The car is 1980 SC tub but with all the components except the tub and dash from a 1986 Carrera. I think this bracket might go somewhere in the trunk. (The valve cap on the left is for scale.)

This is driving me a little nuts. Please save my mental health.

I think its attached to the cowl support AKA cruise control unit mount.

You're right! Many thanks! I looked for "cruise control" and nothing came up in the factory parts diagram but I looked again for "cowl" and there it was (#16).

Hmmm - your circled part does not have the step, and takes a hex head sheet metal screw - not two Phillips head screws ??
I'd keep looking.

I looked thru my picture collection to see if I could find that bracket anywhere near the cowl or cruise control and nothing shows up.

I have one of those brackets but for the life of me I can not remember where it came off of.

More pictures

I don't think I put those screws in there and I haven't got a "stash" of those screws laying around. By that I mean, I have lots of new fastener but none like that so it wouldn't be something I would use if I couldn't find the original fasteners.

That part number is not even in the parts catalog. No wonder I couldn't find it!
I don't have cruise control anymore. Even with evidence, I have still a niggling feeling that it came from the frunk.
