CIS to Bitz EFI Conversion Questions

I'm in the process of converting my '81 911SC from CIS to Bitz EFI. The CIS extraction was quite involved. I damaged a connector while feeling around for wires/hoses to disconnect on the back of the airbox. I'm not sure what this component is, it doesn't look like the CSV but I've been wrong before!

Tony is sending me a cut down airbox. It looks like I need a 90 degree elbow with a 3" diameter to connect the throttle body to the air filter.

(Note: since Pelican does not sell this part, I assume the link will work?)

Can someone who has done the "Clean Install" point me in the right direction? I just want to make sure I have the correct parts (Elbow, rubber boot, cone filter, AAR filter) on hand when everything goes back in.

It is the CSV. You cannot use it now as the electrical plug is broken.

Don’t use the CSV for Bitz anyways. You need to blank off that port where the injector goes in.
But leave the air supply piece below it for the AAR hose to connect.

Dennis--
I'm still figuring out what to do with all the fuel lines and vacuum hoses ( I *assume* I need to delete fuel lines, and reconnect vacuum). Can I leave the CSV in place, disconnected? Or do I remove need to remove it and blank it off?

Thanks -- my previous wrenching was on bikes with carbs and no complicated vacuum circuits!

All of that info is in the very detailed installation manual with photos on the Bitzracing website.
Print it and read it multiple times. It will all make sense.

Dennis--will do. I printed the installation manual but the relevant photos (p 21) were not detailed enough for me, never having laid eyes on the back of this thing before! By the way, I'm also studying your excellent thread "finally back in the game" from 2012, especially the photos in post #124. Looks like a very nice "clean install".

motostereo,

When I removed the plastic piece to connect the AAR hose to the airbox, I found the airbox was molded with the connection blocked off. Don't know why? The CIS seemed to work fine? I assume the airbox had been replaced at some point? Anyway, I drilled it out so the AAR could work.

When I did the clean look, I found the instructions left room for flexibility (confusion?). In hindsight, I wish I'd done the install without the clean look as a first pass and once working, gone back and cleaned up the look. But I got it done. An exhaustive list of which CIS components could be dumped and which cannot, would have helped.

I kept going back and looking at the photos that others had included in their posts to the Yahoo forum Tony had setup. Just looking for clues and ideas of how others had solved their clean look issues.

You can see I have capped most of the vacuum ports in those photos. (So long ago)
My ROW 78 has no vacuum ports on the distributor, so those aren’t there.
The decel valve, the fuel pressure regulator and the ECU are all that were on vacuum other than the power brakes. Your Dizzy will likely need vacuum.
The Bitz system worked great for 9 years and was still going strong when I decided to go to ITB’s a couple of months ago.
Still working on finding time for tuning them….
