Do you tip the car delivery guy?

I’m having a car shipped from South Carolina to Maryland. Should I tip the guy who drove the truck? If so, how much?

Thanks for the feedback. The guy from Intercity was great and took good care of the car. I gave him a hundred.

Great. Now I feel like a shmuck for not tipping any of the drivers I’ve used over the years.
I had no idea it was a thing.

I bought a 912 that came with the engine, trans and parts all in boxes. Driver helped unload and was polite. I gave him $150 because I knew packing it must have been a hassle.

The shipping company gets all the money. The drivers are employees. My Intercity guys were communicative and responsive. I knew they weren't getting any of the fee, so I tipped them $50 each.

Most are contract haulers that accept the brokers bid. I'm not sure which companies are hourly drivers. Hourly guys should get a tip.

Tipping a contract hauler is like my wife going to her independent hair stylist that charges $150.00 for a trim and then she tips her on top...
WTF! If she wanted $200.00 to trim your hair that would be her rate!!

The delivery driver was totally professional and a hard worker. I paid the transport fee in cash and gave him $100.
Seems a very fair amount given what’s being hauled.

My $90,000 car cost $1300 to ship. $100 to the drivers seems more than fair.
I didn't put the transport "out to bid". I called Intercity direct and they were great.
Like they say at the track, "buy a cheap helmet for a cheap head".

The guy who brought my '88 up was Polish. I had just made a roaster full of golabki and had some pierogi on hand. Gave him and his little dog a great dinner before he left.

My car also cost $1,300 to ship. I did get other prices, one of which was $400 cheaper, but then I thought - why take a chance on an unknown to save $400. Delivery from Intercity was perfect.

Tipping the driver is also a form of “paying it forward”. A tipped car delivery driver will treat the next car shipment, especially if it is a Porsche, with respect and deference.

By the way, the driver told me he had one of these on-board that he had dropped off before dropping off my car.

Do you tip the car delivery guy?

15 deliveries over 21 years I tipped every time. Depends of the distance he/she drove. But at a minimum $100. As much as $300.
