Is Pelican starting to abandon the forums?
The site certificate for "forums.pelicanparts.com" expired today. Had to force through an exception for the https connection. Not a good situation but businesses are busy (especially this time of year) and "stuff happens".
But I checked the main "www.pelicanparts.com" page and the link at the bottom to the forums is an "http" link instead of an "https" link. That doesn't seem like an oversite because the forums have had a valid https site with a valid certificate for years and http has pretty much been abandoned across the board by the tech industry. So . . . ? ? ?

I got the same warning but I'm not that worried. Pelican would take a big revenue hit if they abandoned these forums. If people can't search and post project questions, the business would be in trouble, IMO. Plus, a lot of their tech articles link back to the forums. Must just be an oversight.

They are probably punishing us for complaining about the new online catalog. We’re SORRY!

Most modern browsers automatically block sites with invalid certificates. Only reason I can access it is I modified Firefox to allow me to force exceptions for bad certificates so I can manage some of my servers on my local network.

Cert expirations happen, nothing to be concerned about. They catch some of the best IT departments by surprise.

Something I've been meaning to do for some time is make a backup copy of the 93 pages of my build thread...... done.

They fixed the certificate so it was just the normal "too many things to keep track of" that we all have. 👍
![]() But the forum link from the main page still uses a link to http instead of https. There is no reason not to have the correct link there at this point in time.

They're probably like me and tired of paying a ransom for a part of the site that doesn't take payments. Go to the e-commerce part of the site and it'll be secure. My website comes across as "unsecured" because I got tired of paying for a SSL certificate for a site that does not take online payments. But thanks to google and others, if you don't pay the ransom... you get a waring when someone tries to open your website.
