Mystery Electrical Cable 1988 Carrera

Hi,

Can anyone identify this unconnected electrical cable on my '88 Carrera? It comes out from underneath the center console where the shifter lives.

Thanks.

Heat control box between the seats, if you have one.

It is for Auto Heat...I have the identical wire under my seat and searched the wiring diagram, and found someone with an identical post from years ago.

Yes. I do have auto heat. I guess this explains why it has never worked. Where is the other side of the connector?
Thanks for your help!

It's inside the box. When you're in there see if the rod from the motor to the heat lever is still attached on both ends. That's the usual reason for no heat. The later plastic ball sockets stay on, the early ones don't.
