I put a Challenger VLE-10 10K two-post lift in my 30x40x14 shop. The patented arm design allows symmetric or asymetric loading on the same lift. Was a little pricey compared to some other options but it lifts my '03 F-150 with ease after adding a set of height adapters and is very comfortable to work under. My primary reasons for going with this particular lift is the versatility and being ALI certified.

I tried putting the 86 on the lift. It looks like I'll need to get it higher so that at least the lowest pad extension will fit. I had to get 1 set of arms under then roll the car and get the other set under.

Even so, the arms without vertical extensions will damage the body. I'm thinking having the tires on a 2x6 might do the trick.

Does this description make sense? Any recommendations?

Edit: I've dug around in the Bentleys and online and think I understand the lifting points. I do need the car higher to get the lift arms in the correct position. A string hanging down to help center may be useful too.

I'll go out tomorrow and try something different. I'd really hate to bend something or drop the car off my new fancy schmancy lift. I note that there signs of idiots working on this car. An oil line has been tweaked a little but not much and there are slightly deformed places under the car that shouldn't be. Perfect example why working carefully on your car is better than the sloppy professional.
