Grommets for Front Bumper Rubber Trim Piece

Putting my car back together after paint. I got new plastic grommets to install in the front bumper that will hold in the rubber trim piece via clips. I’m having a problem getting the grommets into the holes in the bumper - the holes seem too small for the grommets. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
