Gearbox Whine after Selector Bushings Changed
Hi Team, first post here. I change the 3 bushings of the 915 gearbox selector. The normal process to improve the sloppiness. I put everything back together and completed the procedure to re align the shaft and gear selector. Took it for a drive and shifts much better, but there is now a sort of whine the sounds as if its vibrating through the body once I pick up speed in gear. At a stop, clutching in also stops the sound. Have I perhaps not adjusted the selector correctly, or now with the new bushings is it highlighting another issue? Thanks in advance!

what style bushings did you install? if you installed the metal replacement bushings as opposed to the original plastic ones, I believe this is a fairly common result.

Thanks 76FJ55 for the reply. Funny you say that, as I actually replaced them with rubber bushings! But, and this is the but, the bushing are so hard the coupling wouldn't move once installed. As in the metal shaft and slotted pinion part wouldn't rotate at all. I watched a video of someone else installing the rubber bushings into their coupler and their coupler moved freely after. So perhaps the rubber bushings I got are giving the same affect as a metal one as they are not allowing any movement?
