I am not asking about Palo Alto Speedometer or North Hollywood speedometer. But the "factories" that do this type of metal refinishing. thanks bob |

Your referring to a plater. Do a google search for zinc plating in your area.

Just make sure there is no aluminum on them. Alum won't survive the process. The light sockets might be alum...

I would consider looking for "Vapor honing" services which will make that metal look brand new.

I think you may get a better yield from searching vapor blasting. At least on the west coast anyway. I've had a lot of aluminum parts vapor blasted and they look better than new. Kind of an odd part to put attention to though. Just my .02. But good luck on the restore.

I zinc plate aluminum once in a while. I use Zincate after cleaning and straight into the zinc plating tank. The Zincate has zinc in the solution that puts a very thin coating of zinc and then that is plated normally.

I have a Vapor Hone and it does a good job. I rebuilt a set of Dellorto DRLA’s and they came out great. The vapor hone cleans and smooths the parts.
